Verdier - A steward of the forest
Medieval officials in charge of the forest were known as Verdiers. This French last name translates to a forester. At Verdier Consulting Forestry, it’s in our name. Our goal is to be a steward of the forest, providing sustainable and reliable management activities for landowners to put into place.
My name is Abigail Verdier. I am currently a student at Michigan State University. I will graduate in May of 2025 with my bachelor’s of forestry, with a minor in business and a minor in urban & community forestry.
I grew up on a 4th generation family farm in Belding, MI where we produced corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, and beef. I grew up participating in 4-H, raising and showing cattle. At Lowell High School, I was an active member of FFA, as a chapter and regional officer, leadership skills contestant, and fundraiser organizer. I attended the Kent Career Technical Center for my junior and senior year in their Agriscience program. In this program, we took a tree identification course where I fell in love with trees!
Upon graduation, I attended Michigan State University’s Institute of Agricultural Technology at Montcalm Community College. I graduated in 2021 with an Associates Degree from MSU in Agricultural Operations. Upon doing my internship in that program, I found that I really missed being in the trees, so after I completed my Associates, I transferred to MSU the rest of the way and started my bachelor’s of forestry.
My career goals include providing management plans to family forest landowners, administering timber sales, and helping landowners with any other needs they may have. I have a passion and desire to create forests that are desirable, sustainable, and enjoyable. Currently, I am available as a contractor to other foresters and I am available to landowners as a plan writer.
I am excited for the experiences and opportunities in my future. I can’t wait to grow and work with you!
